How to make naan bread

Soft and chewy, easy to assemble and super fast to the table. These naan are deliciously soft and can be frozen to eat at any time. They can be made as pizza bases and whipped up in minutes and ready to add your favourite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 300g self raising flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 tbsp greek-style natural yoghurt
  • 150ml milk

Tip the flour into a bowl. Make a well in the middle and add the oil and salt. Slowly add the milk, stirring and mixing after each splash. Bring the ingredients together and knead for around 2 minutes to create a firm dough.

Cover and leave for 10 minutes to rest. Meanwhile place a non-stick frying pan on the hob on a low heat.

Divide the dough mixture into 6 portions. Take a piece of dough and roll out to around 3mm thickness dusting with flour to prevent sticking.

Turn the heat to high so that the pan is hot. Carefully lift the naan and place it into the hot pan. Cook each side for around 2 minutes until there’s a good spattering of brown spots on the top and bottom.

Repeat process with the remaining dough. Brush the naan with butter or oil while hot and serve with a meal. Alternatively, add your favourite toppings and some cheese and place the pan with the naan under a hot grill until the cheese has melted. Serve as a pizza.
